A job sheet, or work pack, is what the engineer reads before the visit: where to go, what to do, what is on site and what to take. This guide makes one on the Work Order, so it is always up to date with the job in Salesforce.

What the starter gives you

The Job sheet starter is built on Work Order and needs Field Service.

  • A title panel: the job number, planned time, engineer, status and a priority badge.
  • A barcode and a QR code: the job number as a barcode to book parts at the stores or the van, and a QR code that opens the job on a phone.
  • A red box for high-priority jobs, shown only when the priority is high.
  • The customer, the site and the job, and what to do.
  • The booked appointments, with arrival windows and scheduled starts.
  • Equipment on site, with a picture of each item, and photos of the site from earlier visits, shown only when there are some.
  • The work plan as tick-box steps. It is left out in an org without work plans.
  • Parts to take, with a Packed tick box. It is left out in an org without Field Service inventory.
  • A record of the visit: fillable fields for arrival and leaving times, work complete, further work, readings and parts used, and the engineer’s and customer’s signatures.

Paper, PDF or Word

The record of the visit is made of fillable fields. The engineer can fill them in on the PDF or the Word file, or by hand on a printed copy. Switch the PDF and Word outputs on in Page setup to make both from the same data. See PDF, Word or both.

Build it

  1. In the Docable app, open Templates, choose New, then Start from a quick start, and choose Job sheet.
  2. Choose your Brand Kit.
  3. Change What to do and the red box’s wording to suit your teams.
  4. Add or remove fields in Record of the visit for what your engineers record.
  5. Prove it on a high-priority job and on a normal one, then send it for approval. See Proof and preview.

Make the job sheets in one go

A daily schedule can make a job sheet for each work order its rules pick, for example the ones with the status Scheduled, and file each on its work order. Work orders that already have one are skipped. See Schedules and Bulk jobs.

An engineer can also make it on the job from the Field Service mobile app: open the work order, tap Actions, then Generate Service Document, and choose the job sheet. See Make a document on a phone.
