Start here: the route to your first document

Last updated 13 October 2026.

Template (the editor)

The Docable Studio editor with a customer letter open: a Word-style toolbar, the fields the letter uses listed on the left, the Cindervale letterhead, and Salesforce fields such as Full Name, Account Name and the mailing address sitting in the text as chips.

Result (the generated page)

A one-page letter generated by Docable for the sample brand Cindervale: letterhead, the recipient's address, the date and reference, and a signed closing.
Your first document: a letter to a Salesforce contact. The template shows fields as chips; the page is real Docable output from sample data.

This route takes an administrator and an author from nothing to a first document that has been checked, approved and generated as PDF and editable Word. Do the steps in order. Approval is on by default, so you need two people: an author and a different approver. An administrator can switch approval off in Docable Setup.

  1. InstallAdministrator

    Install into a sandbox first.

  2. PermissionsAdministrator

Give each person a role, finish setup, then check readiness.

  3. WriteAuthor

Type text, type @ for fields, add tables, conditions and totals.

  4. ProveAuthor

Validate, then render the exact PDF and Word proof.

  5. ApproveApprover

Optional second approval of the exact version. A person then makes it live.

  6. GenerateGenerator

From a record: PDF, Word or both, saved as Files.

Do the steps in order. Approval is optional and on by default; when it is on, the author and the approver are two different people.

RouteWhat happens
With AIDescribe the document in your own words. AI drafts it and you finish it in the editor.
Without AIStart from a ready-made quick start, add your Brand Kit, and replace the wording and fields.
From a Word templateImport a .docx you already use. Its merge fields connect to Salesforce fields. No AI needed.

The steps

  1. Check what you need before you install
A checklist before you install Docable: a sandbox, the people and permission sets, the Salesforce features your quick start needs, and the extras AI and Claude need.
  2. Install Docable into a sandbox
Ask for the install link, install the Docable package into a Salesforce sandbox for admins only, then open the Docable app and its Get Started tab.
  3. Give people access and check readiness
Give each person one Docable role, finish setup in one click, then use the Get Started tab to see what is Ready, what needs action and what is optional.
  4. Make your first document with AI
Describe a document in your own words, choose the record and Brand Kit, and Build with AI drafts it for you to finish in the editor.
  5. Make your first document without AI
Start from a quick start, choose your Brand Kit, replace the wording and fields with your own, then check, approve and generate. No AI needed.
  6. Bring a Word template into Docable
Import a Word file inside Docable, no AI needed. Merge fields from Word mail merge and other document tools connect to your Salesforce fields.
  7. Check, approve and generate your first document
Validate the template, make PDF and Word proofs from a real record, approve and activate it (a second person, by default), then generate your first document.
