Retry failed documents
Last updated 26 October 2026.

For anyone who follows runs: at the end every document of a run that failed is made, with no duplicates.
A retry makes the same documents again from the data each one captured the first time, so the values do not change.
Before you start
- You can see the run: your own, or any run if you hold Docable Diagnose or Docable Manage Installation.
- The run has finished. A run that is still running cannot be retried.
Steps
-
Open the Generation Runs tab and choose the run.

The Generation runs tab: choose the run to open its documents. -
Choose Retry failed documents. It makes the failed, partly made and cancelled documents again, and only the outputs not yet made, so a document that was made never gets a second File.
-
Watch the run. It queues the documents again and they are made.
-
From automation, use Retry Docable generation in Flow,
DcsGenerateV1.retry(runId)in Apex, orretryGenerationover REST. Send arequestKey(requestIdover REST), a new lowercase UUID per request: the same key with the same request returns the same run, withreplayedtrue, and never makes the documents twice.
Example
A run of 8 documents is cancelled after one is made. Retry failed documents queues the other seven and makes them. The first document keeps its File.
Check it worked
Every document reads Made, and the run reads Made with all documents counted.
If it doesn’t work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
GENERATION_RUN_IN_PROGRESS: this generation is still running. |
Wait for it to finish, or choose Cancel unstarted documents, then retry. |
GENERATION_SNAPSHOT_EXPIRED: the saved data has expired. |
Docable keeps each document’s captured data for 7 days by default. After that, generate the document again from today’s data. You can change the period in Docable Setup › Retention and storage. |
GENERATION_REQUEST_KEY_REUSED |
That request key was already used for a different request. Use a new lowercase UUID. |
