Rebuild an existing document with Claude

Before you start
- Claude is connected to Docable: see Connect Claude to Docable. You have the Template Author role (Docable Configure and Docable Definition Author).
- Your document is a PDF, a Word
.docx, a PNG or a JPEG of up to 1 MB, saved in your Salesforce Files as a private File: not attached to a record, not in a library, not shared by a link.
Steps

Share the File directly with the person who will review the template.

Ask Claude to rebuild the document, and name the File, the Salesforce object and the Brand Kit. Ask it to declare the File as the source.

Ask Claude what it matched to your fields and what it left for you to connect.

Open the draft in the editor. Connect each placeholder, add logos and pictures (Claude cannot upload files), and run Validate.

Make proofs. The reviewer records a Source-to-proof comparison for each of six areas, choosing Matches the source, Permissible difference (acknowledge) or Blocking difference, then approves.
Example
For a Word quotation full of merge tags, ask: Rebuild this Word template as a Docable template on the Quote object, with the ForgeFlow Brand Kit. Declare the Word file as the source.

Check it worked
The draft is saved inactive, and approval waits for a current comparison with no Blocking difference. A rebuilt document is a first draft, not an exact conversion: expect to edit it.
If it doesn’t work

| There is no comparison step at approval. | Claude did not declare the document when it created the template. Ask it to rebuild the document as a new template, and declare it this time. |
| You cannot duplicate or delete the rebuilt template. | The original document and the comparison are kept with it. Ask Claude for a new template, or change this one. |
| Claude cannot see a record’s values or the file’s contents through Docable. | It works from field names, types and what the document shows. Open the proofs yourself and tell Claude what to change. |
